According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred Monday on U.S. Highway 74 near Interstate 85. Investigators reported that a Cleveland County EMS ambulance transporting a patient was attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck from behind by another vehicle, causing the ambulance to overturn onto its side.

Following the investigation, authorities arrested Jared ONeil Logan in connection with the crash.
