With broken hearts and profound sadness, we share the devastating loss of Aziel Zacapala, a beloved son, nephew, friend, teammate, and member of the community whose life was tragically cut short.

Aziel was a special young man who brought kindness, energy, and joy to the people around him. To his family, he was a treasured son and nephew. To his friends, he was someone they could count on — a loyal friend with a positive spirit and a heart that made a lasting impact. Many of his friends at Rosemead High School knew him by his nickname, “AZ,” a name that represented the person so many came to love and admire.

Aziel was also a dedicated high school football player who had dreams of achieving great things. He loved the game and poured his heart into his sport. His determination, passion, and commitment inspired those around him, and he dreamed of one day making it to the big leagues. More than just an athlete, Aziel was a young man full of potential, kindness, and hope for the future.

Just six days before his passing, Aziel was enjoying life with his football friends at Rosemead Park’s Fourth of July event. He was surrounded by the people and the community that meant so much to him, creating memories that will now be treasured forever. The joy he shared during that time is a reminder of the happiness and friendship he brought into the lives of others.

As his uncle Danny, I am heartbroken by this unimaginable loss. There are no words to express the pain of losing someone so young, so loved, and with so much life ahead of him. Aziel was a good kid with big dreams, a caring heart, and a future filled with possibilities that should have been his to experience.

His passing has left a deep void in our family, his teammates, his friends, and the entire community that knew and loved him.

During this incredibly difficult time, we are also asking for support for Aziel’s mother, who is facing the unimaginable challenge of moving forward while caring for her family. She is currently unemployed and raising two other young children, including a newborn, while doing Instacart deliveries to help make ends meet. Now, as she grieves the loss of her son, she is also carrying the weight of providing for her family through this heartbreaking chapter.

As a father of three myself, I cannot begin to imagine the pain my sister is experiencing. No parent should ever have to endure the loss of a child. We are reaching out to our community with hope that those who are able can offer support, whether through a donation, sharing this message, or simply sending words of comfort and encouragement.
