In Loving Memory of Cody David Johnson
November 25, 1992 – July 7, 2026
With overwhelming sadness and a heart full of love, we remember Cody David Johnson, a beloved son, brother, and cherished member of a family whose life was forever changed by his presence.
Cody’s story began during one of the most painful moments our family had ever faced. He was born on November 25, 1992 — the very same day our family gathered to say goodbye to my sister Chrissy, who had tragically lost her life in a car accident after the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Chrissy had only just turned 19 years old.
Amid unimaginable grief, Cody arrived as a light in the darkness. He became a source of comfort, love, and hope during a time when our family was struggling to understand such a devastating loss. From the moment he entered our lives, he was a gift.
I became another mother figure to Cody when he was born. Whenever he cried, he reached for me, and I was always there to hold him. I can hardly remember putting him down. My mom and dad would joke that I was going to stunt my growth from carrying him around so much, but I wouldn’t have traded those moments for anything.
Cody and I shared a bond that was beyond words. He slept beside me almost every night, and when the time came for him to sleep in his own room, he still found his way back to me. In the middle of the night, I would hear his little feet running down the long hallway before he climbed into bed beside me. I loved those moments because, in truth, I was often scared at night too, and his presence brought me the same comfort and peace that I hope I brought him.
I can still hear those little footsteps. I can still picture that little boy coming down the hallway, looking for the place where he felt safe and loved.
Eventually, my mom and dad adopted Cody from my older sister Brooke, who was only 16 years old when she had him and did not have the ability to raise him at that time. Our entire family was still carrying the heavy weight of losing Chrissy, and many of us were struggling through our own grief. But Cody changed everything.
He brought love into a home that desperately needed it. He brought laughter into moments filled with sadness. He helped heal hearts that had been broken. With every smile, every hug, and every memory, Cody reminded us that even after the greatest pain, there can still be moments of incredible love and joy.
Cody was more than a family member — he was a blessing. He was the sunshine that came after one of the darkest storms our family had ever endured. He filled our lives with warmth, happiness, and a love that will never be forgotten.
The loss of Cody leaves a space that can never be filled. Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his personality, his laughter, and the countless ways he made life brighter for the people around him. His memory will live on through every story shared, every moment remembered, and every heart he touched.
Although saying goodbye is heartbreaking, we are grateful for every day we were blessed to have Cody with us. His life was a gift, and the love he gave will continue to remain with us forever.
Cody David Johnson, you were deeply loved from the very beginning. You brought light when we needed it most, and you will continue to shine in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved you.
Rest peacefully, Cody. You will never be forgotten.
