According to the Odessa Police Department, the tragic collision occurred at approximately 3:31 p.m. on October 22, 2026, in the 4100 block of North JBS Parkway in Odessa. Odessa Police officers and Odessa Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene following reports of a major crash involving four vehicles.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a red Ford Mustang was traveling northbound in the inside lane of North JBS Parkway, while a white Kia was stopped in the left-turn lane, also facing north. At the same time, a silver Lexus was traveling southbound in the inside lane, and a brown Ford F-150 was traveling southbound in the middle lane.
Investigators determined that the driver of the Mustang left the roadway and struck the rear of the Kia. The impact triggered a chain-reaction collision involving the two vehicles traveling southbound.
Tragically, the driver of the Kia was identified as Jesus Cervantez, 71, of Odessa. He was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased.
Despite the emergency response, the day ended in heartbreak for his family and loved ones. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin had been notified, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
