MILTON, Mass. — An 18-year-old swimmer who was pulled from Houghton’s Pond on Saturday evening has died, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Officials identified the victim as Kayron Costa of Quincy.
Authorities said state police responded to Houghton’s Pond in Milton shortly after 7 p.m. after receiving reports of a person who had entered the water and did not resurface. Emergency crews, including state police divers, detectives, troopers, and the Milton Fire Department, were deployed to the scene to search for the missing swimmer.
Costa was eventually recovered from the water and transported to a Boston-area hospital for emergency treatment. Officials later confirmed that he died following the incident. It has not been released how long he was underwater before being located.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and investigators have not released additional details at this time.
The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police are continuing to investigate the case. Authorities said further information will be released as it becomes available.
Officials have not indicated any signs of foul play, and the investigation remains ongoing.
