ALBANY, N.Y. — David Gonzalez, a longtime attorney, former prosecutor, and senior legal official with New York State, died on June 24, 2026, following a motorcycle crash in Albany. He was 53.
According to the Albany Police Department, Gonzalez was operating a motorcycle northbound on Route 9 near the Northern Boulevard overpass on Wednesday evening when he lost control of the vehicle. Investigators said he was ejected from the motorcycle and struck a guardrail. Emergency personnel responded to the scene shortly thereafter, but Gonzalez was pronounced dead from his injuries. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
Legal Career in Public Service
Gonzalez spent much of his career in public service within New York’s legal system. He began his work as a prosecutor in Schenectady County before joining the Albany County District Attorney’s Office, where he served for more than seven years handling criminal cases.
