The Grant Union School District is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of a student in our neighboring district. On behalf of our Board of Education, staff, students, and families, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, educators, and the entire school community during this incredibly difficult time.
The loss of a young person is heartbreaking and can affect many people in different ways. We recognize that members of our own district may have personal connections to those impacted or may simply be feeling the weight of this tragic news. It is natural to experience a range of emotions, and we encourage everyone to be patient with themselves and with one another as we process this loss.
During times like these, the strength of a community is found in its compassion, kindness, and willingness to support one another. We encourage students, staff, and families to reach out to trusted friends, loved ones, counselors, or school personnel if they need someone to talk to or simply need a listening ear.
To provide additional support, the Grant Union Commons will be open today from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for any student, staff member, family, or community member seeking a safe and welcoming place to connect with support resources or spend time with others.
Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. We stand alongside our neighboring district in mourning and extend our sincere sympathy to all who are grieving. Together, we will continue to care for one another with empathy, compassion, and hope.
