The driver of the Honda SUV sustained minor injuries, was taken to Mission Hospital, and was later released. The Tesla driver also sustained minor injuries, received medical attention, and was released from the hospital. The conditions of the other occupants of the Honda passenger car had not been confirmed in the reported update.

According to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began at approximately 4:17 a.m. Wednesday when the county’s 911 dispatch center received a telephone call that disconnected almost immediately. Because the call ended so quickly, dispatchers were initially unable to determine the caller’s location.

Dispatchers attempted to call back several times. During one of those attempts, they believed they could hear someone saying, “Help.” That concerning detail prompted authorities to continue working to trace the phone and determine where assistance might be needed.

Investigators eventually located the owner of the phone, who told authorities that it was a spare device he had loaned to an associate. The Sheriff’s Office continued tracing the phone through several possible locations before information led investigators to a residence at 223 North Cherry Street in the village of Gnadenhutten.

Authorities then located a family member who was able to unlock the home’s door. Once inside, officers discovered three people who had sustained gunshot wounds. A firearm was also found at the scene.

The victims were later identified by the Tuscarawas County Coroner as Kozzar Lotut, just 22 months old; Melissa Campbell, 51; and Gale Sanders, 67.

The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation, and autopsies are expected to help confirm the causes of death.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell stated that investigators had many people to interview and substantial evidence to examine. He also expressed confidence that the wider community was not in danger.

The driver and two passengers in the Honda passenger car were transported to Mission Hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, one of those passengers, Jimmy Lee Brooks of Leicester, was pronounced deceased at Mission Hospital.

The driver of the Honda SUV sustained minor injuries, was taken to Mission Hospital, and was later released. The Tesla driver also sustained minor injuries, received medical attention, and was released from the hospital. The conditions of the other occupants of the Honda passenger car had not been confirmed in the reported update.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a red Ford Mustang was traveling northbound in the inside lane of North JBS Parkway, while a white Kia was stopped in the left-turn lane, also facing north. At the same time, a silver Lexus was traveling southbound in the inside lane, and a brown Ford F-150 was traveling southbound in the middle lane.

Investigators determined that the driver of the Mustang left the roadway and struck the rear of the Kia. The impact triggered a chain-reaction collision involving the two vehicles traveling southbound.

Tragically, the driver of the Kia was identified as Jesus Cervantez, 71, of Odessa. He was transported to Medical Center Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him deceased.

Despite the emergency response, the day ended in heartbreak for his family and loved ones. Authorities confirmed that his next of kin had been notified, while the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing.
