According to the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, both Christine McWilliams and McKinley Williams died from gunshot wounds in what authorities have classified as apparent homicides. Their deaths occurred during an incident that also claimed the life of Rittman Police Sgt. Scott Ries and ended with the death of 38-year-old Brandon Fazekas, whose fatal gunshot wound was reported by the coroner as being consistent with suicide.

Authorities said emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 9:30 p.m. following reports of a disturbance and shots fired. Officers arriving at the scene immediately encountered gunfire, resulting in a large-scale emergency response involving multiple law enforcement agencies, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.

In addition to the four fatalities, four deputies from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office were injured during the incident. Two deputies were transported to a hospital in stable condition, while two others were treated at the scene. A Wayne County Sheriff’s Office K9, identified as Vick, was also shot and transported for emergency veterinary care.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has taken the lead in investigating the incident. Crime scene investigators continue processing evidence from the residence while detectives work to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the deadly shooting.

The bodies of Christine McWilliams, McKinley Williams, and Brandon Fazekas have been transferred to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies. Officials have not announced when those examinations will be completed.
