Charles Lyman to Be Honored with Memorial Race at Parx Racing
Family, friends, and members of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred racing community will gather on Saturday, July 18, to celebrate the life and lasting legacy of Charles Lyman during the Lyman Memorial, which will be held as the seventh race at Parx Racing.
The memorial race will serve as a heartfelt tribute to a man whose dedication, passion, and contributions to Thoroughbred racing left an enduring mark on the sport and on the many lives he touched throughout his career.
Before the race begins, attendees will have the opportunity to remember Charles through a special tribute video that will be shown on the big screen overlooking the track. The presentation will celebrate his life, his accomplishments, and the countless memories shared with family, friends, and colleagues who knew and admired him.
Following the race, everyone in attendance is invited to gather in the winner’s circle for a commemorative photograph and a moment of remembrance to honor Charles’ life and legacy. The gathering will provide an opportunity for those whose lives he impacted to come together, reflect on cherished memories, and pay their respects.
The Lyman family has also shared a heartfelt invitation for those attending the event to take a moment to greet their son, Kai, who will be present throughout the day’s tribute. Kai hopes to reconnect with many of his father’s longtime friends and colleagues while continuing to learn from the community that meant so much to Charles.
Inspired by his father’s remarkable career and passion for the sport, Kai dreams of following in Charles’ footsteps and carrying forward the family legacy as a respected figure in Pennsylvania’s Thoroughbred racing industry. Meeting the people who worked alongside his father and hearing the stories that defined Charles’ career would mean a great deal to him and his family.
Charles Lyman’s influence extended far beyond the racetrack. He was respected not only for his knowledge and dedication but also for the relationships he built, the mentorship he offered, and the integrity with which he approached every aspect of the sport. His legacy continues to live on through the countless individuals he inspired and through the next generation represented by his son.
As the racing community comes together on July 18, the Lyman Memorial will stand as a fitting celebration of a life devoted to Thoroughbred racing, honoring a man whose passion, commitment, and love for the sport will never be forgotten.
The Lyman family extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who plans to attend and help celebrate Charles’ life. Your presence, support, and shared memories will serve as a meaningful tribute to a man whose legacy continues to inspire both on and off the track.
