The Gibson County coroner has named the teen who drowned at New Lake Campground near Oakland City.
They says he is 17-year-old Charlie Lakjohn, of Evansville.
Indiana DNR officials say they recovered his body Monday evening.
Officials say the call went out around 5:25 p.m., saying there was a missing person in the water.
Several crews were called out to the scene, including Patoka Township Fire, Oakland City Police, Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana DNR and the Evansville Fire Department.
Lakjohn was found just after 7:00 p.m.
Several family members of the boy were at the scene and were told what happened.
Officials with New Lake also posted on social media Monday night that the beach is now closed until further notice.
