VALDOSTA, Georgia — July 13, 2026 — Authorities are continuing to investigate a suspected murder-suicide that left two adults dead inside a Valdosta residence on Sunday morning. Police were dispatched to the home after receiving a report that a man was threatening to harm himself. When officers arrived, they reportedly heard a gunshot from inside the residence, prompting them to enter the home immediately out of concern for the safety of anyone inside.
Upon entering, officers found a toddler alive and unharmed, along with a deceased woman and a deceased man who appeared to have sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The child was safely removed from the residence by responding officers.
Although the names Michael Lindsey and Shelby Leopold have circulated on social media and in online reports, neither the Valdosta Police Department nor the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has officially identified the deceased.
