VICTORVILLE FIRE TODAY: Summit Fire Burning Along Llano-Piñon Hills Border Prompts Evacuation Warning

Firefighters are responding to the rapidly developing Summit Fire, a vegetation fire burning near Jesus Canyon Road along the border of Llano and Piñon Hills in Los Angeles County. The wildfire broke out on Friday afternoon, prompting an aggressive response from multiple fire agencies as crews work to protect lives, homes, and surrounding communities.

The fire was first reported at approximately 1:10 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, near Highway 138 in the area of Jesus Canyon Road. According to Incident Command, the blaze was initially estimated at around 8 acres, but officials warned that weather conditions and available vegetation could allow the fire to expand rapidly, with the potential to grow to 100 acres if not contained.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames burning through medium to heavy vegetation. Strong east winds quickly pushed the fire across the landscape, increasing fire behavior and creating an immediate threat to nearby homes and other structures. The combination of dry fuels, gusty winds, and rugged terrain has made firefighting efforts especially challenging.

As conditions intensified, authorities issued evacuation warnings for residents living in areas closest to the fire, urging them to remain alert and be prepared to leave at a moment’s notice should conditions worsen. Emergency officials continue to closely monitor the fire’s progression while coordinating resources to protect threatened neighborhoods.

To strengthen the firefighting effort, Incident Command requested a second alarm response, bringing in additional ground crews and equipment from neighboring agencies. Air support has also been significantly expanded, with Air Attack ordering three additional air tankers to assist helicopters and firefighters on the ground. The aerial resources are being used to drop water and fire retardant in an effort to slow the fire’s spread and support containment operations.

Firefighters remain engaged in an aggressive attack on the blaze as they work to establish containment lines and limit the fire’s advance. Officials are urging residents in the surrounding communities to stay informed through official emergency alerts and to follow any evacuation instructions issued by local authorities.

The cause of the Summit Fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation will begin once conditions allow. Fire officials continue to assess the situation, and updates are expected as crews make progress and more information becomes available.
